Most small businesses in the UAE start on Instagram. It's free, it's where customers already are, and it's great at showing off what you do. So it's fair to ask: do you need a website at all?
Short answer: yes, if you want people who don't already follow you to find you, trust you and contact you.
Instagram is for discovery
Instagram is brilliant at one thing: getting you seen by people who weren't looking for you. A good reel can reach thousands of people in Dubai in a day.
But Instagram decides who sees your posts, not you. You can't control the layout. And most people won't scroll back through 200 posts to find your prices, your hours or your location.
Your website is for decisions
When someone is ready to choose, they search. They type "cafe Al Quoz", "dental clinic JLT" or "abaya store Dubai" into Google. If you only exist on Instagram, you're often not part of that moment.
A good website answers the questions that turn a visitor into a customer:
- What do you do, and is it for me?
- Where are you, and are you open?
- How do I book, buy or get in touch?
It does this in seconds, on a phone, in a layout you control.
Trust matters more than you think
A real website with your own domain (yourbusiness.com) tells people you're established. It's also where your Google Business Profile, your reviews and your social links all point to. Without it, all of that has nowhere to land.
So what should you do?
Use both, for different jobs:
- Instagram to be discovered and to show what you're like.
- Your website to be found on Google and to turn interest into calls, bookings and sales.
- Link them, so your bio sends people to your site and your site shows off your Instagram.
